JD Edwards on OCI Workshop

JD Edwards on OCI Workshop

Introduction

In June, the French JDE User Group asked me to deliver a hands-on workshop so that the participants could discover and test deploying JD Edwards on OCI. By the end of the workshop, each participant should have their own JD Edwards Trial instance and use it in the afternoon for some E1 Orchestrator labs.

So I created a few labs around JD Edwards and OCI; the first one, and most important, was to deploy a JDE Trial environment on OCI so they could have their E1 Orchestrator environment ready for the second part of the workshop. However, having different kind of people attending the event (System Administrators, DBA, JDE consultant, Sales Rep, functional people, …), I wanted also to give the more technical users a bit more to play with and discover useful OCI services for JD Edwards, like:

  • load-balancer
  • Web Application Firewall (WAF)
  • Security Services
  • Terraform
  • Mobile Application

All those labs are available in a public GitLab group: Jde on Oci If you want to give them a try, you can go directly there and follow the instructions for each lab. In this post, I’ll mainly describe the automation I built so the participants could register and have their OCI environment available in a few seconds.

๐Ÿป Many thanks to my colleague Richard Garsthagen who first used http://ctfd.io for an internal competition and gave me the idea for this automation..

That’s all ๐ŸŽ‰ ๐Ÿ˜‰
